Code of Conduct for the Library Media Center 2025/2026

General Expectations

  • The LMC is a quiet Learning Zone. Students are expected to maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.

  • Students must work quietly and remain in the LMC for the entire class period.

  • Students may use the LMC for:

    • Research and assignments

    • Printing/copying

    • Test makeups

    • Silent reading

Entering the LMC

  • Students must secure a digital pass before coming to the LMC.

  • Upon entering, all students must sign in on the LibraryTrac Chromebook. Failure to sign in will result in a class cut.

Conduct While in the LMC

Students must:

  • Show respect to all LMC staff.

  • Show respect to all LMC users.

  • Help maintain an atmosphere conducive to quiet study.

  • Respect LMC and school materials.

Additional expectations:

  • Food is not allowed in the LMC.

  • Electronic devices are not permitted.

    Electronic Device Interventions:

    • 1st Intervention: Confiscation until the end of the period with a write-up.

    • 2nd Intervention: Confiscation, sent to room 102 for pickup, with a write-up.

Leaving the LMC During a Period

  • After attendance is verified, students may ask permission to leave for the restroom, locker, vending machine, etc.

  • Only 2 students may leave the library at a time.

  • Students must sign out and sign back in on LibraryTrac when leaving and returning.

Before Leaving the LMC

  • Push in chairs.

  • Return library materials.

  • Pick up litter.

Non-Compliance

  • Non-compliance with any rules may result in being returned to study hall.

  • Loss of LMC privileges and/or disciplinary action may occur if rules or staff requests are not followed.

  • All library rules and policies are subject to modification at the discretion of LCSD school librarians and administrators.


Progressive Discipline for Repeated Disregard of Rules

  1. 1st Intervention: Verbal reminder to get back on task and/or written referral.

  2. 2nd Intervention: Student sent back to study hall for one day with a written referral.

  3. 3rd Intervention: Written referral to an administrator with a recommendation for loss of LMC privileges.

    • No admittance until the referral is processed.
